What is BNP?

Bengaluru Navanirmana Party – a party focussed on Rebuilding Bengaluru

The BNP is a political platform created to give voice to ordinary citizens in the governance of their city. It is a party of, by and for the citizens of Bengaluru. As the world’s first citi-centric party, BNP will contest only the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike-Bengaluru municipal corporation) elections and not the state or national elections.

BNP is made up of a diverse set of individuals, such as committed civic activists, professionals from various fields, entrepreneurs, home-makers and students, all united by their common love for Bengaluru and their desire to help rebuild the city and revive its former glory.

Why the need for BNP?

BNP can provide knowledge-based solutions

Bengaluru, despite being one of the fastest growing cities of the world, India’s IT hub, as well as the generator of huge revenues for the government, is woefully lacking in infrastructure, amenities and citizen services. This calls for urgent action and an informed, knowledge-based problem-solving approach that BNP seeks to provide.

BBMP lacks accountability, transparency and the will

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the municipal corporation that governs Bengaluru, has been unable to address any of the above issues, due to lack of political will, apathy towards the citizens of Bengaluru and lack of transparency and accountability.

BNP advocates much-needed citizen participation

It is a well known fact, that for local governance to have a positive impact, citizens need to be involved and participate actively in the administrative process. Unfortunately, this awareness is sadly lacking, both in the government and among most citizens.

Rampant squandering of funds needs to stop

Several scams have been detected over the years in fund utilisation and work allocation. Bengaluru city is generally viewed as an inexhaustible resource to be exploited for political or personal advantage. Every year, crores of rupees are collected from its citizens in the form of various taxes, fees and tolls but the funds actually spent

What sets the BNP Apart?

Unlike other established political parties, the BNP is focused only on Bengaluru City. Thus, it will contest only the BBMP polls and not the Assembly nor the Lok Sabha polls.
BNP comes with no political baggage or obligations whatsoever. It will owe allegiance only to the city of Bengaluru, and not to any State or National party.
BNP is focused on ward-level grassroot governance. Citizen participation and active involvement are key features of this party.
Focus will be on proactive problem-solving in an informed and balanced manner.
Ward-mapping exercises are being carried out for the purpose of proper planning to support appropriate budget allocation within every ward.
Corporator candidates will be chosen by the citizen corporator teams already in place for each ward, based on merit and track records rather than any other consideration.
Transparency and accountability are strictly enforced in every activity.
BNP believes in diversity. It welcomes honest citizens from all walks of life. There is strictly no discrimination based on gender, religion, caste, class or creed within its fold.
