Program Impact

• Reactivation of Ward Committee Meetings: BNP’s efforts revived Ward meetings in areas across Bengaluru where such meetings had not been held for years. More than 100 meetings were attended by BNP members.
• Citizen Empowerment: Empowering citizens with awareness about their rights to attend ward committee meetings.

Problem Being Solved

• Ward Committee meetings are an important part of municipal government and mandated by the Indian Constitution. Yet, less than 30% of the meetings have been happening.
• People across wards were either not aware of these meetings, or did not know how to attend them.

How It Works

• Community Engagement: Engaged community through awareness drives on ward committee meetings.
• Advocacy: Worked with government officials to reactivate ward committee meetings.
