Traditional politics failed our city. It’s time for a professional, data-driven startup model to manage our wards.

We have apps to order a hot meal in ten minutes, book a cab in seconds, and manage our finances with a tap. But when it comes to the pothole outside our gate, the garbage on the corner, or a confusing water bill, we are stuck in the 1980s. This is despite Bengaluru being the world’s startup capital.

Why is it that our technology works, but our city doesn’t? At Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party (BNP), we realized the answer is simple: Bengaluru is being run by “career politicians” who care more about the next big election than your next-door drain. That is why we started BNP—not as a typical political party, but as a city-focused startup designed to fix how Bengaluru is managed.

What Makes BNP Different?

Most parties ask for your vote and then disappear for five years. BNP is built differently:

  • Citizen-centric, not personality-driven
  • We are a group of civic-minded neighbors—doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, and homemakers—who are tired of waiting for someone else to fix our city.
  • Focused only on Bengaluru’s municipal governance, not state or national politics. Our focus is 100% on streets, parks, wards in Bengaluru.

BNPs Goal: Mission 50

For the upcoming corporation elections, BNP has launched Mission 50. Out of the 369 newly delimited wards, our goal is to win at least 50 wards. Municipal elections are different from state or national elections. Winning a city election is not about big speeches or posters. It is about:

  • Being present on the ground
  • Solving everyday problems
  • Earning trust, one neighbourhood at a time

Why 50?

Because 50 honest, professional corporators can act as a “watchdog” for the entire city. It is enough to break the culture of unaccountability, demand transparency in every public project, and end the commission-driven governance. Most importantly, it allows us to show the rest of the city exactly how a ward should be run with professional discipline and citizen-led decision-making.

How is BNP doing this?

Area Sabhas: The Power of Neighborhoods

The government recently removed Area Sabhas under the new Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, but BNP is bringing them back. We believe that residents know their streets best. Each ward is typically divided into 6-8 Areas and one Area Sabha is created for each of these areas. These area sabhas consist of citizens from the area representing- Individual layouts, Apartments, Streets and resident clusters. These groups act as, problem-solving units, focused on making the neighbourhood better. The Area Sabhas are supported by central BNP teams and leaders. The Area Sabhas work on everyday issue resolution like potholes, garbage blackspots, drainage, etc.

What has BNP done so far?

BNP has already built 100+ Area Sabhas operational across Bengaluru, even without holding power.

Through these Area Sabhas BNP has been working on the following things:

1.     BNP has been running structured civic issue resolution campaigns across Bengaluru. Residents raise local problems, and BNP’s central team supports them through: Process guidance, Coordination with municipal departments and Follow-up until resolution.

  1. BNP has built knowledge of excellence for various civic amenities and helping citizens access civic amenities through Area Sabhas.
  2. BNP has been running advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about laws, policies and on-ground implementation that affect everyday citizens and also working with the government to resolve the issues. The Area Sabhas act as a communication and mobilisation funnel for this.

This approach builds informed communities that understand how municipal systems work and recognise governance as a citizen’s right, encouraging ownership of their wards.

Our track record of on-ground action includes:

  • 2,000+ civic issues raised and 1,300+ issues resolved across multiple wards
  • Unjust property tax notices withdrawn by BBMP through signature campaigns and
  • 5,000+ citizens assisted in obtaining E-Khata
  • 5,000+ Voter IDs facilitated through Kevalla Mathavalla camps
  • 78,000+ homeowners benefited from the reversal of unfair property tax assessments for which BNP advocated for 2.5 years through stakeholder engagement, onground mobilisation and awareness creation
  • ₹21,653 crore worth of BBMP projects made public, contributing to the exposure of irregularities and tendering concerns
  • 15,000+ RTIs filed to improve transparency in BBMP finances
  • BNP conducts independent, citizen-led audits of public amenities—including public toilets, street lights, foothpaths—to expose gaps in maintenance, accessibility, and governance, and to demand accountability from civic authorities.

1 A. Helping Citizens Access Civic Amenities

A key part of BNP’s grassroots work is helping citizens navigate broken civic systems and access essential services. BNP has actively assisted residents with:

  • E-Khata applications (5,000+ citizens supported)
  • Voter ID enrolment through Kevalla Mathavalla camps (5,000+ facilitated)
  • Access to services such as: Nimma Arogya, Cyber safety support, Ward-level grievance mechanisms.

1 B. Empowering Citizens with Knowledge

BNP believes that informed citizens are the foundation of accountable governance. Through structured awareness initiatives, BNP educates residents on:

  • Ward budgets and public spending
  • Roles and responsibilities of municipal bodies
  • Citizen rights and participation mechanisms
  • Publication of ward-wise budget and project details on BNP’s portal : BNP is currently the only political party to have made ward-wise project details publicly available in a transparent manner, something yet to be done even by the municipal administration.

2. Outreach to more communities: Door-to-Door Outreach and Gated Community Outreach

Winning a ward in Bengaluru requires building deep, long-term trust. The party is scaling its door-to-door outreach to reach every household in target wards. Today we have activated this at 50+ wards where BNP volunteers are knocking every door.

BNP has also been conducting awareness, civic issue resolution and civic amenities access camps in apartment complexes and gated communities as well, which is very unique to BNP.

BNP is also working on building a strong online community through consistent communication, and in the last 2 months alone, 1,000+ new volunteers have joined BNP just through social media.

Moving Forward

As elections approach, BNP is scaling up with volunteers knocking on every door and conducting camps in both gated communities and local layouts.

Our campaign is guided by one simple belief: Strong cities are built through strong neighborhoods. The work BNP is doing today is a living blueprint of how we will govern Bengaluru tomorrow.
