RTI

BENGALURU GOVERNANCE IS IN TATTERS.

Potholed Roads, Frothing Lakes, Filthy Drains, Unwalkable Footpaths, and Garbage everywhere!

DOES BBMP LACK THE FUNDS TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES?

The  BBMP and 198 corporators of Bengaluru spent more than Rs. 10,000 Crores in the year 2018-19. Rupees Ten Thousand Crores! THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY!

THEN WHERE IS OUR 10,000 CRORES GOING?

Thousands of crores are spent on needless & senseless projects like white-topping, flyovers (which are built & demolished) yet basic issues like potholes, broken footpaths, garbage spots, dirty drains, etc remain unfixed!

IS THERE AN AUDIT OF THE BBMP ACCOUNTS?

More depressing news!
The last time the BBMP had an internal audit was in 2010!
Audit of BBMP Accounts for FY 2018 – 19 is still not completed, despite almost a year having elapsed since the completion of the financial year.
In any case, the State Government’s audit of BBMP Accounts is only arithmetic and procedural and doesn’t get into the real assessment of the financial performance of BBMP.
Also, the CAG audit reports (which are done on specific themes like drains, roads, etc) in the past have damned BBMP for financial mismanagement which never reflected in the State Government Audit.

SO WHAT CAN WE DO AS CITIZENS?

LET US 'THE CITIZENS OF BENGALURU' USE OUR RIGHT TO INFORMATION (RTI) AND DEMAND ANSWERS !

Bengaluru NavaNirmana Party is launching a 10,000 RTI Campaign called #LekkaBeku #RTIHaaku, where WE, the Bengaluru Citizens, demand that BBMP & 198 Corporators publish:

  • Detailed audited accounts of the Rs. 10,000+ crores spent for FY18-19
  • Detailed internal audit report of the the Rs. 10,000+ crores spent for FY18-19
  • Details of all projects undertaken with project value of above Rs. 1 crore
